This site is dedicated to preserving the history of the USS Marblehead and its most defining moment in history - The Battle of Makassar Strait.  This includes the story of Corydon Wassell, M.D., the wounded men of the USS Marblehead and USS Houston, and their perilous journey across Java to reach the safety of Australia.  Also presented is some information regarding the Cecil B. DeMille movie pertaining to the incident - The Story of Dr. Wassell.
